Embark on a remarkable journey with us and discover the awe-inspiring charm of the Himalayas. Our Himalayan Wonderland experience combines spectacular natural scenery, deep cultural encounters, and exciting adventures—promising memories that will last a lifetime in one of the planet’s most extraordinary regions.

Itinerary

On a clear day, the flight into Paro is truly spectacular, offering sweeping views of towering Himalayan giants like Everest, Kanchenjunga, and Makalu. As the plane descends, Bhutan’s own snow-capped treasures—Jhomolhari, Jichu Drake, and Tserimgang—come into view, marking a stunning welcome to the Land of the Thunder Dragon.

Upon arrival at Paro airport and after completing the necessary formalities, an Etho Metho representative will warmly welcome you. From there, you will embark on a scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s vibrant capital, where tradition and modern life come together in a unique and captivating blend.

On Arrival, we will check into hotels

In the afternoon, we will visit the National Memorial Chorten, a prominent landmark initially envisioned by Bhutan’s third king, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. He intended it as a tribute to world peace and prosperity. Completed in 1974 after his untimely passing, the Chorten now stands not only as a symbol of global harmony but also as a memorial to the late king, affectionately known as “the father of modern Bhutan.”

Next, we will visit Tashichhodzong, known as the “Fortress of the Glorious Religion.” Originally built in 1641, it was later reconstructed in the 1960s by King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. The Dzong serves as the seat for several government ministries, His Majesty’s secretariat, and the central monk body. It is accessible to visitors during the Thimphu Tsechu festival in autumn and when the monks move to their winter residence at Punakha Dzong.

After breakfast, we will continue exploring the capital with visits to sites that offer insight into Bhutan’s rich literary heritage and traditional craftsmanship.

The Itinerary includes :

We will visit the Institute for Zorig Chusum, commonly referred to as the Painting School, where students undertake a six-year training program in Bhutan’s thirteen traditional arts and crafts. Please note: the institute is closed on Sundays and government holidays.

We begin with a visit to the National Library, which houses a vast and invaluable collection of ancient Buddhist manuscripts. Please note: the library is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and government holidays.

Afterwards, we proceed to Paro, where we will stop for lunch. Upon arrival, we’ll visit the Ta Dzong, originally built as a watchtower and now serving as Bhutan’s National Museum. Its collection includes ancient Bhutanese art and artifacts, weapons, coins, stamps, and a small exhibit of natural history.

Next, we explore Rinpung Dzong (also known as Paro Dzong), majestically perched above the Paro valley. Constructed in 1646 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the Dzong today houses the monastic community of Paro as well as the district’s civil administrative offices. It stands as a powerful symbol of both religious and secular authority in the valley. Note: the Dzong is closed on government holidays.

We will also visit the Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples. Built in the 7th century by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo as part of a spiritual mission to subdue evil spirits in the Himalayas, this temple marks the arrival of Buddhism in Bhutan.

In the morning, we set out on a memorable hike to Taktsang Monastery, famously known as the Tiger’s Nest. Perched dramatically on a cliffside, this iconic site is believed to be where Guru Rinpoche, the revered founder of Mahayana Buddhism in Bhutan, arrived on the back of a tigress and meditated. Although the monastery was severely damaged by a fire in 1998, it has since been meticulously restored to its original splendor.

After the excursion, we return to the hotel to rest and prepare for your departure from Bhutan.
